make a cut using intersecting geometry

I would like to make an cut into part #1 using the geometry of a mating part part #2. whent the two parts are mated together I would like to remove the intersecting Geomety from part #1 I may be lacking the correct terminology to perform an effective search in the help files thanks

William, In ProE this sort of Boolean operation is carried out within an assembly. Depending on what you are doing the assembly can be a temporary file that is deleted after you have performed the operation. Once the two parts are assembled properly, go to Edit/ComponentOperations/CutOut and follow the prompts. David
