Hello,



I received some useful tips. I was at this meeting mainly to show my
prototype instead of offering design services. Remember, most of these
entrepreneurs do not have the funds to pay for design services. I was not
going out-of-my-way to solicit work as it is often a headache to work with
other entrepreneurs if they do not have the funds, or need to get another
estimate after providing them with image of your concept.



Here are some of the suggestions I received:



. Concentrate on the aspects of the product that they are interested
in knowing about.



. They want to know HOW you did it.. not WHAT you did





. If it is 3D modeling pick up the freeware version of eDrawings and
generate a eDrawing of the part or assembly. Whatever views are in the CAD
app will be available in eDrawings. You also will have a play button that
will cycle through the views to show off the model. You can start it and
leave it running with your hands off. If I remember correctly you will have
to turn on checkmark in one of the drop-down menu for it to loop.

Introduction



Money - What they can expect to finance their idea



Marketing/sales - start this process early to best understand the viability
of your product idea



Patent searching - validation that they have a unique idea that is not
already patented and if so how to work around that.



Ideation process / concepting, engineering and design



Prototyping - multiple prototypes may be required for evaluation, testing
and possible industry certification (i.e. UL/ETL).



Tooling/Molding/Manufacturing - selecting suppliers and driving the process



Logistics - shipping costs, fees, import duties, delivery charges, customs
fees, etc... and what to expect.



Customers - Identify this early as well as venues to sell through (i.e. mass
retail, infomercials, QVC/HSN, etc..) and work on lining

up customers who want to purchase your product by the
time you have design complete.



Procurement - Ongoing sales and how to deal with the supply chain and the
many issues that WILL arise.
