msengine application error fails to initialise properly 0xco150002

I have got the error window below on running any analysis on ProMechanica. I have loaded WF5 for the first time, using release M050.

WF5 was working OK. Even the results saved in WF4 are displayed OK. Even tried switching off Norton Internet security AV and Microsoft Security Essentials, same result. Uninstalled and reloaded ProE and Pro Mechanica, did not help. Help required in running ProMechanica analysis (msengine.exe).

Hi Ajayinder,

This usually means that a DLL required by the application cannot be found. There is a free tool called Dependency Walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com/) that can identify which DLL. I would suggest trying that. PTC Technical Support can help if you have problems.

PTC Technical Support answered the question.

ProE and ProMechanica WF5 needs 'MS .net 3.5' to function which is freely available from MS at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&displaylang=en.

Mechanica analysis is now running smooth thanks again to PTC Tech Support which solved it with an hour.

PS: There is a issue with MS .net 4.0 with Windchill ProductPoint which has a work around in https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=146773 till MS corrects it.

Hope this helps others.
