How to select only top level components with cursor in a Creo View model?

Is there any way to have a cursor select setting that only selects top level components in the structure in Creo View MCAD (aside from the top level assembly)? 

Any type of solution to this will do.

(Creo View MCAD version 11 being used).

Hi Joseph,

With the standard filter (smart) you can select a part of your assembly

Then you could press the "left arrow key" many times you need until you arrive to the related "top level components" assembly.
