summary: can't create datum A in a merged part

QUESTION:
I have a machined part created as an external merge from a casting part.
The casting part has a datum called "A" in it, which is needed in its drw.
The machined part doesn't have any datums.
I need to create a datum "A" in the machined part, but when I do a Warning Window tells me: " You have entered a name A that has already been taken."
Does anyone know how can I create a datum A in the machined part?

ANSWER:

1. open machined part
2. rename existing datum 'A' within the merged part - Edit / Setup /
Name / Other
(use the find command to locate datum A)
3. now you'll be able to re-use the name 'A' in the machined part

Thanks Brian
