Eric,
They are temp files used by Epic while the main file is being edited. On
save they are usually deleted. What will happen occasionally is these
files will remain in the folder if you have some sort of system crash
(segment 11, power failure, etc). If you have had one and want to make
sure you have saved any changes, you might want to open the file and do a
comparison with the file it represents. Otherwise, you can delete it,
especially if it is fairly old.
One thing though, NEVER delete the file while it is being edited. Epic
(and Windoze) probably wouldn't let you do it anyway as the file is in
use.
