How are you integrating IsoDraw drawings with text?

Hello everybody. Can someone tell me what text editor you are using along with IsoDraw? Is anyone importing IsoDraw drawings into Arbortext Editor? If so, is Arbortext Editor the only option? What format are the IsoDraw drawings when you import them? I am evaulating IsoDraw, but need to know how to integrate the drawings with the text in our manuals. Thank you!

We currently use Arbortext as our text editor. We are exporting the files in .eps format due to some of our publishing tools. If you go down that road I would recommend looking into macros to convert the .iso to and .eps. I have created a macro for our specific purposes that does this and makes the task much simpler as we sometimes export three files and save the .iso in two locations.

Thanks for the reply, Trevor. Are you publishing only hard copies, or do you publish on the web also? If you use EPS format only, do you lose the ability to zoom in and rotate graphics? I thought one of the advantages of using the Editor and IsoDraw together would be the ability of the customer to manipulate the graphics, have animation, etc.

We have recently switched from Adobe Illustrator to IsoDraw and at this point only had time to recreate what we had been doing. So, we are producing hardcopies as well as posting PDFs to the web. You can zoom as with a regular PDF but there is no interactivity with the graphic. As a side project we are also working to utilize CGM exports on the web which would have rollover and click intelligence. The animations was a long term item that we do not have the resources to address right now. We've got our fingers crossed for the future though.

You can import .iso files (the IsoDraw native format). If you're interested in hotspotting between the graphic and the text, that's help topic 5985 (Arbortext Help Center).
