PTC Arbortext Content Delivery Versions Update

Dear Valued PTC Customer,

As we approach the end of calendar year, we would like to provide a helpful reminder to our customers regarding Arbortext Content Delivery (aka ACD) 7.2 and its earlier versions.  PTC released Arbortext Content Delivery 7.2.0.0 in December 17, 2021. This version is the latest long-term supported version of Arbortext Content Delivery, which will be in standard support until December 31, 2025.  In order to keep up with industry’s security threats and interoperability with other software products, PTC made adjustments to the Arbortext Content Delivery Standard Support Life-Cycle.  This initiative directly aligns with our commitment to maintaining the stability and performance of Arbortext Content Delivery, and ensuring that our customers have a positive experience using our software.

PTC will continue to strengthen 7.2 with additional CPS (7.2.0.x) releases, contingent upon potential bugs or security threats, to make sure it addresses industry challenges and meets the needs of all customers.

In light of the above, we would like you to pay special attention to the Arbortext Content Delivery versions Standard Support End Dates. This information is also made available on PTC Product Calendar.

Although customers are entitled to continue using sustained versions of Arbortext Content Delivery, PTC cannot effectively support those versions and would not be providing new maintenance releases, bug fixes, patches, or hotfixes for product versions that are in Sustained Support.  We thank you for your time and want you to know that we are fully dedicated to your success!

Next Steps Required:

We strongly advise you to plan your update to the latest PTC Arbortext Content Delivery 7.2 well before the Standard Support End Date.

Some of the benefits of moving to the latest PTC Arbortext Content Delivery 7.2 version include –

  • Full 4 years Standard Support through December 31, 2025
  • Enhanced and up-to-date infrastructure –
    • Oracle Java version 11 support
      • Oracle is due to cease their premier support for Java 8 in March 2022. After that date, we believe there will be some additional support cost to customers still running Java 8 (~20% more)
    • Quicker and simpler process for addressing security vulnerabilities
      • All 3rd party SW components including JBoss WildFly application server are now externalized from ACD’s installation package, allowing you to update it independently and without the need to update ACD.
    • Deployment Scalability improvements – better equipped to support your deployment expansions
  • Update Arbortext Content Delivery Independent of Your Deployed Windchill Version
  • New responsive GUI supporting Online Mobile Phones as well as Tablet Devices
  • Auto-setting of Options and Choices Filters associated with SNs/VINs
  • Ability to add entire Parts-List to Shopping Carts in a single click
  • 3D illustrations Viewer (ThingView©) enhancements
