Quick question...

Does anyone know of a method for launching the Help Center without
having an Editor session going?

I just want to be able to launch help center and keep it open if I close
Editor.

still at 5.2) that's listed in Start+Programs+Arbortext?

I copied the following as a short cut to my desktop:



"C:\Program Files\Arbortext\Editor\hc\consumerui.jar"



Works find for me.

I copy the file C:\Program Files\Arbortext\Editor\help\help.chm to my
desktop, dbl click it and it comes up. It will not close if you exit
Epic. I find this very useful.

Yeah. It's a separate download, from memory it came out around 5.3 M030 time.

It's actually a DMP instance so you can search, bookmark, etc. using
the interface.

Just another place to search for clues, besides the HTML Help and PDFs 🙂

Nope, I was talking about the help center that uses the Arbortext DMP to
index/search all of the Arbortext documentation (including javadocs and
PDFs) from one location. If you haven't used it yet, it's pretty
helpful (should be in your help menu under "Help Center"). If you don't
have it, you can download it from PTC support.

The Help Center is a separate application, but I'm not sure if it costs
extra.

Upgrading to 5.3 will get you the help center application. PTC is moving
to this as our main delivery vehicle for online help because it is cross
platform and works well with both HTML and PDF content. Oh, and it is
our own invention J



And on the off chance that you (or since many of the readers here
support others) or someone you know does not have a functional Java
Runtime Environment installed (JRE) but there is a JRE on the machine,
try the following:



${path-to-jre}/bin/java -jar ${path-to-helpcenter}/consumerui.jar
