Select by layer

Someone please tell me that there is a way (in IsoDraw 7.0) to select all items on a specific layer. 'Layer' does not show up as a choice in the 'Type' window of the 'Select Element' dialog box, but really, there has to be a way to do this . . . . right? Thanks for any advice.

Hello Kim, as you mentioned there is currently no direct function or entry in the select dialog, that enables you to do so. However, if the layer you want to select all elements in is the active layer, you can click on the button with the eye symbol in the layer window. This makes all other layers at once invisible (except for the background layer). Then you can press CTRL+a and all elements and objects on this particular layer are selected. Please note that regarding layer access there are other functions which are useful as well: - Export of layer(s) - Import of layer(s) - The layer functions in the context menu of the layer window (Dopy, paste, duplicate, ...) - Drag & drop of layer(s) And access through macros as well. regards, Christian

Thanks for your reply. That method gets the job done, but it would be nice if 'layer' was one of the select-by options. Speaking of that, I've got a laundry list of things that I wish IsoDraw would do (or not do), is there good place to submit such items of concern on this site?

Not sure about the laundry list but in regards to selection of objects on a layer I would recommend posting to the macro forum as I have done this. If I don't see a post I'll assume you are "getting by".

It would be nice if all of the windows (Layer, Attribute,Fills...)would have a selection option instead of having to drill down through a pulldown menu.

Hi Jeff, basically this is a good idea. But.... Having all selection functions in a central window sounds also appealing to me. regards, Christian
