Changing a pipe from constant radius to variable

I have created a length of pipe that includes two bends. I originally
created the pipe as a constant radius but would like to go back after
the fact and change it to variable radius - I can't because it is greyed
out. Do I have to go back into the points and delete them and recreate
points? I am hoping there is a simple solution that I am missing.
