How do you get out of pause mode.

Hi, When I go to create a new model or go into editing an existing model and I hit the sketch button or any other buttons nothing happens. In the text box on the bottom of the screen it says that it is in pause mode. How do I get out of this mess? It seems like all my models are infected.

Select a reference, such as surface, plane or edge to define view orientation. Current tool is paused. Select objects, or Resume to exit Pause mode. Select a plane or surface to define sketch plane.
