From what I remember, years ago, PTC wanted you to use underscore in file
names because in pro/e, if you used relations in assy's, the dash could be
mis-interpreted as a minus sign and screw up your relations.
I remember either a salesman or an AE telling me this shortly after getting
pro/e about 10 yrs ago. I never tested it, but I have seen many a dash in
the filename since then and haven't heard of any problems.
So now, with the advent of new software, I hope there is not a conflict
between Pro/E and Windchill. We all know that PTC will choose Windchill to
support and pro/E users will just have to change the way they do things.
"All you have to do is open each and every assy you have ever done, remove
that relation, save and then you can check it into PDMlink. Its really
easy." Thank goodness the company I work for now doesn't use PTC file
management software, whew!
