Yes, Doug. You are correct.
There is a limited set of Manikin capabilities available in every Pro/E
package (Foundation XE, Enterprise SE, etc.) as of Pro/E Wildfire 4.0
M060 (due out later this quarter.) This basic capability will allow you
to insert a "hypothetical" manikin (meaning he doesn't really represent
any population/percentile, but he looks as you would expect him to.) in
to your assembly, and posture using a reduced number of manikin
manipulation tools him to get a feel for how he would fit. You will
have access to pre-defined postures to help position him, but with this
"free" set of capabilities, you cannot save the manikin in the design -
we'll give you a warning when you first insert him in the design. Also,
there are no population profiles to choose from, no reach or vision
analysis tools (all available with Pro/ENGINEER Manikin Extension), and
certainly no of the advanced analysis tools that are in the Pro/ENGINEER
Manikin Analysis Extension (which needs a seat of Pro/ENGINEER Manikin
as a prerequisite).
This "free" version is a try-out. We believe that the Manikin
technology is VERY compelling, and can help in a variety of design
challenges. It's also "neat" to see a human figure interacting with
your design, and we want each of our Pro/ENGINEER users to experience
that.
Beyond that "free" version, there are the two additional packages I
mentioned. I hope that clarifies things.
