Hi Liek,

See the attached picture.

I received two replies pointing me to
Edit Thicken and the option on the dashboard during thin feature
creation.

What I'm looking for is shown in attached picture.
There used to be an option right inside the sketcher where you could
offset the sketch (thicken)
This would then result in an offset dashed line that could be used as
dimension reference

Liam,

The image you sent is similar to the sheet metal sketch in a flange feature
creation. This MCAD post

Like,

Attached is an example of using sketch thicken (in sketch mode) when
creating a sheet metal flange. I tried to thicken a stand-alone sketch, but
this option was not available.

I found it in the 'Feature Tools' section of the Sketch menu while
creating a flange wall in sheet metal. However, 'Feature Tools' is
grayed out during creation of a solid thin.

This is WF2, maybe WF3 or WF4 is different.

Lam,

Thicken option is available only in Sheetmetal mode. Seems that you are working in part mode.

Liek,

I think this is what you are looking for. SKETCH -> FEATURE TOOL ->
THICKEN

Liek,

In Wildfire, this option was removed from thin features in solid models,
and is only available in sheetmetal mode now. Not sure if this was
intentional or an oversight, but either way was a bad move with no good
reason behind it as far as I can tell.

All,

The option was removed from the sketcher interface.

You can still thicken a line entity though in the solid extrude. It is not just available in Sheetmetal.

The "thicken" function is in the dashboard.

Sketch a thin entity in the sketcher, accept it, then the toggle for the thicken is to the right of the "remove material" toggle. It looks like a "C".

When you toggle the thicken, another width pane becomes available.

Hope this helps.

Scott,

The sketcher functionality is different than the actual thin feature.
In the past, when creating a thin feature, you could show the other side
of the thin in the sketch.  Those dashed entities could then be used for
constraints and dimensions, allowing you to use both side of the thin to
capture your design intent within the sketch.  Very handy, but now gone.

What Liek was referring to was the ability to *show* the thickened
entities in your sketch, and dimension to them. This was quite useful
for sections where your design intent was to drive the dimension to a
piece the thickened edges. Sketcher would show the thickened edge in
dotted lines.

That feature is not available now; the thickened profile is only
viewable after you exit sketcher. You can just use relations instead,
but that's a bit cumbersome. What's worse, you can't even use a section
relation to accomplish this because the thickness of the section is not
an available dimension in the sketch.
