If you right click on the shortcut you can change the "start in" directory.

thanks Corey, I actually reinstalled it so that I could install it to C:/PTC. I have one other small question, I am not using Intralink so I am always using the "set working directory method" is there a way that I can set it up to see the same config file everywhere I go?

The best way is to use a batch file so that it will automatically load your config.pro

What is this batch file? And how to use it?

What sort of batch file should I have and how do I create it?

Your config.pro will get read in from 3 places. Just make sure it is in 1 of these 3 places and it will get loaded everytime you launch. 1. C:/ProEloadpoint/text 2. My Documents (%Home%) 3. Start in directory (shortcut icon)

thanks Corey, I have the config file in the kickoff directory Pro/E is seeing it but the odd thing is my line colors sre coming up black instead of the default line colors. Any suggestions?

check your config file for settings that might alter that. If pro is loaded with no config file and it is correct, then loaded with your config file and wrong then there is something that you need to change in your config file. Is your part you are looking at have a dark color, cause the visible lines will be displayed in whatever color it is. Also check your system colors, controlled by your system colors file, syscol.scl. Something my have been altered in there.

I just went into "view" and fixed it that way. It should write back to the syscol.scl file. Corey thankyou so much for this help I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. If I can do anything for you just let me know.

ok so I saved the color setup to the syscol.scl file but it won't load for some reason. I feel like such a newb.

create a config.pro option that has the name something like: systems_color_file C:\PTC\....\syscol.scl Next time Pro loads it will know where to find the file.

Corey, if you ever need shoes drop me a line.

For a list of all config.pro options head on over to Olaf's ProE site. http://www.proesite.com/newframe.htm?/UTIL/view_config.html

I still can't get the system colors to load when I "set working directory" ProE looks for it in the "working directory" so I will go to Olaf's ProE site thanks for the tip Scott. I am new to the admin side of things as you may be able to tell.
