vendor part will not open

I recieved a Pro/E part from an outside source and I cannot get it to open.

I get this error message "The file C:\Work\j13344.prt.1 is not a valid PART file."

Anyone got a solution or answer for me.

I am using Wildfire 3.0.

I have added the file for your experimentation

I opened the file with a text editor, and in the header I see this:

Looks like you've got a version problem.

That is what GCRI is for. It allows you to pull up WF4 files in WF3.
I've done it with WF3 in WF2, and would expect it to work the same.

Yep. I couldn't open it in WF2, but I could in WF4. Interestingly, I
did not get the usual 'newer version' message. Didn't Pro|E used to
tell you if it was a newer file?

Thanks for the quick response, everyone.

The first thing I told the supplier was that we were on Wildfire 3 and would need a compatable file. GRRRRR!!!!

I guess he doesn't listen well!

UPDATE:

As suggested by some, I tried downloading/setting up the GRANITE Cross Release Interoperability (GCRI) software from the PTC website.

What I got for my troubles was when I tried to open Pro/E I get a Pro/Exit.

Thanks PTC!

I have a call in to the PTC helpline, but I'm not holding out for much.

What you are seeing in the text file makes me wonder if this isn't in fact a Unigraphics part file. UGC usually refers to Unigraphics.

Nope.... never mind. It opened right up for me with no trouble.
