We have a standardized calculation pad that we use throughout the company when performing hand calculations. This provides our company logo and locations to fill in the Project, Subject, Task, Job #, Computed and Checked by Initials and dates. The Mathcad header and footer tool is too simplified to be of any use. The formatting in the provided areas is unreliable and difficult to use. As a result, we have created an embedded Excel component that has variables linked to the appropriate cells within the Excel component. We then must copy this component to the start of each new page. This keeps the formatting the same in all documents. This solution is great for one or two page documents but not multi-page documents or documents that are referenced in other documents. The multiple excel components dramatically slow down the documents to the point they are no longer usable. Not having a header and footer that was fully customizable has been one of our reasons for limiting the use of Mathcad. We end up often returning to Excel where the top X amount of rows can be repeated on each page. Has anyone developed a way to have useful headers and footers that are easily updated by a user and still maintain the formatting and without having to copy something from page to page?
