if i'm a two digit number then i'm 10a+b, so the difference of my square and 2*myself is:

(10a+b)²-2*(10a+b)

2*2-4 = 0
3*3-6 = 3
4*4 -8 = 8
5*5 -10 = 15
6*6-12 = 24

5 might be the first answer, If I correctly translated you version of English.
