Announcing TC Dojo: Arbortext Edition

TC Dojo (http://www.tcdojo.org) is a virtual meeting place for the Technical Communications professional. Whether you are just starting out in the field or you are a well-seasoned expert, everyone can gain valuable learning at the TC Dojo.

We took what we learned from the popular Arbortext Monster Garage virtual meeting series and the overwhelming requests we received from the first annual TC Camp held in Santa Clara in January 2013 and blended them together. The result — a new twist on the typical web session.

There are three ways to learn at the Dojo: Open Sessions, Master Series, and Private Sessions.

TC Dojo Open Sessions

TC Dojo Open Sessions are free general audience sessions for students at every level. There are general sessions that cover a wide range of topics appropriate for a wide range of practitioners from the beginner to the advanced.  Session topics are selected by the attendees and can cover anything of concern to Technical Communications professionals such as architectural design, analysis or tools.

Open Sessions run for only 30 minutes and meet once a month.

TC Dojo Arbortext Open Sessions

TC Dojo Arbortext Open Sessions are free general audience sessions for students at every level.  Thanks to the success of TC Dojo Open Sessions, we launched TC Dojo Arbortext Open Sessions. We cover a wide range of topics appropriate for a wide range of practitioners from the beginner to the advanced.

Like the general TC Dojo Open Sessions, Arbortext Open Session topics are selected by the attendees and can cover anything of concern to Arbortext professionals such as stylesheeting, environment and application configuration, and best practices, to name a few. Arbortext Dojo sessions focus on Arbortext skills, how-tos, tips, and tricks.

The sessions also run for only 30 minutes and meet once a month.

TC Dojo Master Series

Inspired by our customers, we created the TC Dojo Master Series to provide a unique learning environment. We all have questions: A lot of those questions have the same basis but different technological requirements.  In the TC Dojo Master Series, we facilitate a single conversation among a small group of peers to discuss issues and challenges associated with technological challenges that affect documentation groups.

We've found that this dynamic forum encourages peer-to-peer critique and guidance on critical technical publications business issues. The group not only provides support for operational challenges but encourages to you focus on strategic planning and long-term issues. Members have the opportunity to present their issues, share referrals, and advise one another in a confidential, supportive environment once a month.

These member only sessions meet once a month. The focus in the master session is to delve deeper into solving complex issues in real time amongst a small group of peers. Sessions run 45 minutes once a month. The forum is open discussion with a moderator and a scribe. There is a fee to join the Master Series.

One benefit of the TC Dojo Master Series is that Master Series members have access to Arbortext TC Dojo Session recordings.
