Best Practices for Supporting Change Management with Flexible Change Association

Change Management process needs can vary in scope and scale based upon an company's needs and stage of the product development cycle.  It is important that a Change Management process easily maps to these needs.

This session highlighted new flexible Change Associations in Windchill 11 specific to managing engineering changes in order to support a broad range of business process needs.

For example, if you need to connect your Problem Report to a Change Notice the new Change Associations can do this with simple configuration.  The session covered how the Change Associations can be used, and cover what to know for both new as well as migrated installations including workflow, reporting and more.

There is an updated version of the presentation with an added sub-bullet on slide 16 that should answer the question of how to implement the "Change Notice without Change Request" preference functionality with flexible change rules:

Required Role – Identifies associations between objects that are required.

For example if there is a relationship between Production CR and Production CN
with Required set to Role A then a Production CN cannot be created without
a Production CR that is related.
