I have an imported word document, and add a functional requirement within ithegrity thn export-for-reimport the document, thenreimport the document. The catagory for the newly entered requirement is changing from Functional requirement to Comment. Any ideas?
Hi Joseph,
I was going to suggest that for this issue, it sounds like you may want to contact Support to open a case,to look into this with you, as there are a few things that could apply here, and it looks like you also have done that and have an open Support case.
Hi Joseph,
Working with WORD Re-Import, you need to keep one thing in mind:
You can only import Information that is in the WORD document. Sounds trivial but has a lot of implications.
In your case this would be at least 2 fields the Import parser must identify and fill correctly: the TEXT and the CATEGORY field.
WORD internaly only knows text, organized in sequential paragraphs and formated in different "styles".
The default PTC Re-Import parsers can only guess the CATEGORY based on the style used in WORD and that means the parser can deviate between a "Heading" and "Not-Heading" aka. "Content".
Depending on your gateway configuration you can choose the default CATEGORY used for any "Content" , or have it predefined in the mapping file.
In you case it seems the default CATEGORY is set to "Comment".
So no matter what CATEGORY you choose inside PTC, if it is not part of the exported WORD document you use for external manipulation, the Re-Import Parser won't be able to recognize it an choose the default CATEGORY.
Personally we use a table structure in the export template and have our re-import parser ebaled to recognize and analyze these tables.

Hello Joseph Howell,
Did Matthias Rump's response clarify this for you? If not, could you let us know what still needs to be clarified? If so, could you click on the Correct Answer button at the bottom of his post?
