Setting the Revision Number

Hello All,

Is there a way to change the revision number of a Windchill document upon approval? For example the regular revision order is A.1, A.2, A.3 ect ect, but say the document was approved after revision A.2. Is there a way for the revision to jump to B.1 after approval? So the revision number order would be A.1, A.2, B.1, B.2 until the next round of approvals. We are tyring to devise a system to easily separate major and minor revisions of a document.

Thank you!

You need to be using a workflow for your documents with a lifecycle.

Check-in each time will increment the iteration: A.1, A.2, A.3

Release the rev A document (Set State) and the revision is locked

Revise your document and the revision becomes B.1

Make change and check-in to make B.2

Release to lock rev B

This is standard Windchill workflow for a document Promotion.
