Anyone using Windchill ESI?

Anyone using Windchill ESI?

Whatever happened to Windchill ESI? Is it alive& well, and is anyone using it with success for accessing product information / part structures? If so, what JMS providers are being used?

I've been reading some outdated Windchill guides about its "ESI Api" (e.g., "Windchill Enterprise Systems Integration Open Application Programming Interface Guide" / "ESIOpenAPIGuide.pdf"), and it sounds interesting.

Solar Turbines Incorporated has been using PDMLink 9.1 with Windchill ESI
to create XML that we export with the out of the box ESI toolset to then
send to our Baan ERP system using our own WPS middleware and our own
Baaran BOI (Baan Object Interface) programming.

Overall, we are happy with it. It is quite useful.

However, we found that it is almost impossible for an end user to manually
set up distribution targets if you have more than one distribution target.
As a result, we wrote quite a bit of complex pre-validation and ESI
Target set up logic into our workflows for RTP to ensure that the part
undergoing RTP and all of its children are set up correctly to go over to
the target company or companies.
