Discussion Forum - Default View

We're using a subtype of Change Request as a "Work Request" (and twisting Windchill's arm in many ways to get it to be a work request management system). We're using the Discussion Forum for each Request to record certain info. It works reasonably well for this - and allows for reporting all via variousQuery Builder reports.

The Discusssions Table has two OTB Views - Tree View and Table View, with Tree View being default. We'd like users to be able to set the Table View as their default.

Tech support just confirmed that there is no OTB way to do this. Any suggestions / advice to allow users to set the Table View to default?

thanks in advance

Hi Mike,

I can't give you feedback on your question, but your question is
interesting since we tried to use the discussions as well, without
success until now. Could you give some practical examples on what you
use them for?

Some shortcomings on discussions are (in my point of view) : you can't
moderate discussions, you can't filter or annotate on postings, you
don't see the precense of a discussion from the details page of an
object.

Met vriendelijke groeten,
Kindest regards,

Hugo Hermans

Mike,

Well I haven't looked at the discussions but, are we talking the upper right
hand drop down pick on the JCA tree table? The one where "Customize."
appears often? Think there is a JCA tag attribute to lock it to a certain
view in the JSP defining the table descriptor and get model tags.

Only other things I can think to do would be JavaScript. Encapsulate the
entire table and hide it when it first loads, change the view and then
reveal it, or if the view is only used by discussions, try deleting (or
disabling) it from the database (Table is TableViewDescriptor) and the
configuration file defining the class file for the view.
