Looking for recent experience merging 2 Pro/I 3.4 databases into 1

I think the subject says it all.

I do find threads on the subject which are several years old so I am looking to see if there are any current thoughts on this topic?

Anyone have experience with PI-Merge or other methods to consolidate databases?

What about migrating to Pro/Intralink 9.x and merging them at that time?

Thoughts?

In my opinion, migrating 2 ProI 3.4 instances into 1 ProI 9.X will be infinitely easier, faster and far fewer headaches.

I've had customer use PI Merge and it took a long time with lots of baby sitting issues.

We thought aboutdeveloping something like PI Merge a few years ago, butour experience with theWindchill migration tool made us stop the development.

In the past, some of our customers have used our ProI 3.4 Export and ProI 3.4 Batchload to migrate the latest version of everything from one ProI instance into another. This was a much easier/faster process then having to recreate history like PI Merge. They kept a backup ofthe old ProI 3.4 instance that was exported just in case.

But again, I thinkthe new 9.X migration tools are the way to go.

Rick
