I'm fighting the MPMLink implementation and this topic is interesting (albeit kind of old).
So in the end, how do you treat the inseparable items which you design and order to be manufactured by some external company? Ideally setting an assembly as purchased or inseparable would automatically (or optionally) result with mBOM side having just the single assembly structure part instead of the whole tree but it doesn't work like that.
Side question - do you guys have some resources when it comes to configurable modules and mBOM management? I've gone through all of the Windchill documentation and there's barely any mention of this. Or is it only possible to create separate mBOMs and Process Plans for each Variant Specification separately?
Also, it looked clear in the beginning, but the more I research this the less obvious it is why mBOMs even exist when the manufacturing steps, tools, procedures and basically all of the information is structured and allocated in Process Plans.
