I am working with two different companies that are having the same issue with users at their remote sites.
PDMLink 9.1 M020
1. Users at Remote Site "Add to Workspace"
2. Users at Remote Open in Pro/E
3. User Complains of the Open Speed....
The problem is ofcourse that even though the Workspace had returned control to the user, the files are STILL being transferred into the Local Cache. So when users select Open in ProE -ProE is waiting for the files to cross te network.
Windchill does not let the User Know download is complete.
Q: Does anyone have a utility or a method of tracking when the download is complete? My only technique is to watch the cache folder and note when it has stopped growing.
Users had an easier time with Pro/Intralink 3.X. In Intralink.... You select Checkout... You computer locks up until files are 100% transferred. Then you Open in ProE. They just do not grasp that Windchill returns control before the files have completed their transfer. (One shutdown his computer! The cache was not completed yet!)
Any techniques appreciated? How do you let monitor?
