For change management (and other areas), there are OTB text boxes (e.g. Description), one can configure various additional (we have added "Justificiation"). By default, these have 500 characters. Some of our users routinely write huge amounts of info in Word documents which they attach, then enter "see attached" in the text box. In general, this works well, at the expense of an extra step for both the creator and all approvers.
Some are asking for us to increase the character limit. At some point, the text box is not all that readable because one cannot use rich text tools, headings, etc. But - Is it reasonable to increase from 500 to say 1000?
Curious what others have done for this and comments.
