Here's the basic question: How do you manage Product project security in PDMLink without ProjectLink?
We're in the process of defining our PDMLink environment but have some questions about security. We'll be implementing PDMLink 9.1 without ProjectLink, or at least with very few PJL licenses to start. Unfortunately the idea of "products" doesn't really fit for us because we have one "product", a truck, with massive variation. We have "projects" to update certain components of the truck but the boundary for each project can cross different areas of the truck and overlap each other.
Each project will have groups with different levels of access to a set of objects for the project. These groups will also need to be able to work with components across the truck at least for reference. We can see how ProjectLink might be perfect for managing this but it's just not an option for the first year.
Does anyone else manage "project" access within a product and if so, how do you do it? Do you resort to Folder security? Do you use Security Labels? Do you use private Product contexts (containers) for the projects? Did you just pay the money and implement ProjectLink? 🙂
