ProjectLink: file links

Good Morning All,

This is a question about linking to files in ProjectLink. A very simple task with a few ways of doing it. The way is works is whenyou create a link to a specific file you create it to that specific iteration. The problem arises the next time the document is edited. The linktakes you tothat now non-latest document. Is therea Windchillsettingthat willallow onea link that will take you to the latest iteration?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Robert,

you should check the difference between OR and VR in the URLs.

When you navigate to the properties page of a document, you can use 2 different links:

The first one references to a specific iteration (Object Reference), and the second one, to explain in a simple way, references to the last iteration (Version Reference). So if you get the link to the VR type URL, it will point always to the last iteration of the document.

In a OR type URL, the <id> in the URL references to the ida2a2 database field of the object, and in the VR type URL, it references to the branchiditerationinfo field of the database. This has been discussed in the past in these forums, so you can probably find more info about it searching.
