Recovering files after crash

Using Windchill Intralink 9.1
User had several new parts. And an assembly. The person was not uploading his work while saving. Anywany his laptop blacks out while he's using Pro/e, let say something like the battery comes out, so its an immediate hard shutoff. Now his files cannot be retrieved. They list in his WS but they will not retrieve. We tried the WC_Recovery program. About 1300 LIDs are listed, but none of the files he needs are listed in the LID's. There is a group of about 20 lids that have no information, we figure is those models he wants.
Is there not versions saved for models, like.1, .2, .3 somewhere? I see no regen_backup.asm anywhere. Anyone have any last acts of desperation I can try for this person?

Not sure why there was not uploading going on. Using a laptop, working on new parts, He was the poster child for uploading.

Thanks

Is your Intralink set to upload and save? This is a config.pro setting and should be set in config.sup so users cannot override it. Being a laptop, does it have the same config settings as the desktop users?

Not set up that way. We tend to educate the users and let them have the choice. I say choice because what if you are working off line? Which happens sometimes, or the system goes offline.

We have seen this as well and have associated the issue to workspace frames. In particular, we seem to experience this after a user has purged frames-it doesn't even require a crash. As such, we have disabled frames (set the workspace frames preference to 0) until we can work with PTC to resolve the issue.

Similar to you, the user's workspace "knows" of a file, but the corresponding physical file in the user's cache is no longer there. When the user tries to open the file, they get "cannot be retrieved". As you have indicated, the Recovery tool can't recover the file because the lid file no longer exists.
