SolidWorks worker user and access to SW libraries

Version: Windchill 11.1

Use Case:

Description:

Hi SolidWorkers,

the question is about how should the SolidWorks on a worker machine (virtual Win 10) be configured related to, for example, Material Libraries maintained commonly for all users on a network drive.

(Assumption is that the user id running the worker should be a domain user with access to the network drive and the File Locations in SolidWorks Options is updated with the correct path to the library.)

However,
Current setup is that the Options - File locations path points to local folder where the library files are copied to. The user is a local user, not domain.
Why asking is I noticed that when opening SolidWorks in a remote session logged in as the worker user, there's no prompt about issues with any paths, but when workerdaemon is launched there's SW prompt "Some folders specified in the file locations for document templates do not exist, do you want them to be removed from the list?". Why does this not appear when opening SW 'directly'?

We have similar issues with Creo but its not related to the worker directly. Remember that the workers are typically running from a windows service as the local system user. That user should not be able to access network shares. In our case, we have a shared drive that hosts Pro_Standards stuff like you described. We have to copy those to the CAD worker locally since that shared location would not be accessible to the CAD worker instance. Its a pain to keep in sync (hole files and other stuff) but this is our solution.

@avillanueva thanks for this already a while ago, good point about the local user. Probably still easiest to keep it that way and try and sync what's needed on the worker.
