Time to upgrade from Intralink 3.4 to Intralink 9.1?

Time to upgrade from Intralink 3.4 to Intralink 9.1?

My IT guys have given me access to a virtual server for testing. I've started downloading the massive amount of files for the installation/deployment (Intralink 9.1). Apsolutely no clue as to how to proceed but I do plan on hammering PTC on this. Getting support for Windows 7 is the drive for this although it is not exactly an emergency (yet).

However, I noticed on another posting that "Is changing as I write this to Windchill 10 (All new interface)."

OK so is this something that would be viewed as the next version of Intralink 9.1? Intralink 10? Should I wait for it?

Thanks,
Joe S.

Thanks Steve. I got a lot of great replies on this, thanks everyone.

Windchill 10 appears to have a Pro/INTRALINK 10.0 Data Migrator CD
download. I will check with PTC about the upgrade path. Luckily my main
IT support guy is pretty sharp. We should be able to do this, which is
good because there is no way I can get a budget for consultant support.

Thanks again everyone, that was very fast! I look forward to more
input/suggestions.

Regards,
Joe S.

I definitely recommend this solution so you can perform proper mapping of attributes from Pro/I to Windchill.

I am finally able to return to this project.I never posted a summary because there is nothing to add that is not already in this thread.

Starting with the correct version is noteasy. As the attached picture file shows, I have quite a choice.

Intralink Release 10,10G 11gR1, or 11gR2. I've downloaded 10 but before I proceed with anything I thought I better check back with you people on this. Thoughts?

Download 10.0 for Windchill (select M030). The other choices relate to other modules / applications.

If you use Oracle, use 11gR2 (not provided by PTC). Needs to be installed (software only) prior to installing Windchill.

Forgive my complete ignorance, but I still do not know exactly what your talking about. The list below shows whatis available to me:

INTRALINK
INTRALINK SINGLE SITE
WINDCHILL PDMLINK
WINDCHILL PROJECTLINK
WINDCHILL WORKGROUP MANAGERS AND GATEWAYS

My license shows "ILINK_CLIENT_License". I am unable to locate anything fits your description: "Download 10.0 for Windchill (select M030)". The fact that I do not know what my upgrade path should be really points to a problem with the marketing folks at PTC. Thanks everyone.

You are in for a sur*price* note the underlined price. Your intralink 3.4
licenses are no go for windchill. Its a whole new product and it comes in
with a whole new price. Well the price is very similar. But what I mean is
that you have to buy it, there is no license upgrade from intralink 3.4
that I know of. (Maybe I am not up to date on that. That would be happy
news to some extent for me. Anyone please feel free to teach me). Maybe
there is a deal you can make if you are update on intralink support or
something who knows.

Alfonso

Some clarification on Windchill & Oracle pricing:

An upgrade from Intralink 3.4 to 10.x might be free.

If you purchased Intralink 3.x continuously been on maintenance, you get to have Intralink 9.x and 10.x at no extra cost. That

I knew there had to be some loophole hopefully he has it bundled and on
maintenance...

Yes, we have Oracle bundled with our Intralink & have paid our maintenance all along so all is well there. I am downloading Oracle 11gR2 right now & already downloaded Intralink 10. Again there is no summary because everything is already posted in this thread. Thanks everyone for all the help. More to come I am sure.

Joe S.
