Upgrade WF3 to Creo in Windchill - Now cannot upload model

All,

We're testing an upgrade from WF3 to Creo Pro 5 and receiving error when trying to upload a Creo part model:

We designate the Pro/E system parameter PRO_MP_MASS which is mapped implicitly to an attribute in Windchill also named PRO_MP_MASS.

For Creo Pro 5, PTC, in their infinite wisdom has decided to change the parameter type of PRO_MP_MASS from "Real Number" to "Floating Point Number with Units". This makes it no longer compatible with our Windchill attribute PRO_MP_MASS which is type "Real Number". Upon trying to upload a model the upload fails with this error:

Parameter "PRO_MP_MASS" of type "Real Number with Units" could not be uploaded to the server due to inconsistent type with Windchill parameter type "Real Number".

PTC's solution is to simply create a new attribute in Windchill and map PRO_MP_MASS to it. This is very undesirable because our downstream processes that use PRO_MP_MASS data from Windchill will have to be rewritten to handle two different attributes. Similarly users will be inconvenienced because they'll be looking at mass data in two different columns in our table views depending on whether or not the model came from Creo or WF3.

Is it possible via some attribute mapping tricks to map both the pre-Creo mass attribute and a new mass attribute to one new attribute in Windchill?

Thanks,

Mike Foster
