WC10.0 M020-M030 DM_HTTP_COMPRESSION_LEVEL inhibiting CAD file download

We are validating our test system and have found that using the config.pro option, or wgmclient.ini option for HTTP COMPRESSION, causes the dowload of the CAD file to fail.I have a call open with PTC, but wonder if any of you are successfullly using that option with WC10.0 M020-M030?

Thanks, -Vaughn

Hey Vaughn,
We have the following performance config.pro setting in our WF 5.0 M070 load that we are using against a Sandbox 10.0 M020 WC server. We haven't experienced any issues downloading CAD content from Windchill yet. The WC server is a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 box.

!**********WF5 and WINDCHILL PERFOMANCE CONFIG OPTIONS 24JUNE2011***********

dm_cache_limit 0

What's the call #?

[I ask as I /might /have fixed this issue today.]

HI,

I found the same issue last Monday and have also a call going with Tech support.
It's not for all files and that is very strange. It's only some files that can't be downloaded from the server.
We'r running PDMLink 10.0 M030 and Wildfire 5 M120.

Using dm_http_compression=3 the files cannot be downloaded. Using the OOTB value 0 no problems.

To any/all having this particular issue:

I have created SPR #2119287 for purposes of tracking this issue and the
associated software fixes.

If you have a case open on this or want a fix for this, then let the
technical support engineer know about this SPR number.

Thanks for the heads up. I just duplicated the download failed trying to download a 2652 component assembly. 156 objects failed download. Conflict description ends with:Downloadfailure.SizeofPro/Efilewrittentodiskdoesnotmatchexpectedsizesetbythedownloadservice.

Using IE browser 8, Windchill PDMLink 10.0 m030, Creo Elements Pro m120. config option dm_compression set at 3. When I chgd the compression to 0 the download succeeded.

I logged case 10707720 with ptc tech support.

Hey Patrick,

Just curious, your settings seems a little weird to me: 'dm_cache_mode none'.
Any idea why 'none' is preferable to 'modified' or 'all'? Do you see any difference between LAN and WAN users on this option?

Met vriendelijke groeten, Best Regards,

Hugo.

Hi all,

This is a known issue with anSPR 2119287, this issue should be fixed in WC10M040. I guess if you set the value to 0, it should work (its a workaround)

Thanks,

Shashi

In some cases SPR #2126218 is also involved -- which will also be fixed
in M040.

The symptoms are similar in that in both cases the file sizes are incorrect.

The causes are quite different, however.

Hugo,
Setting this to 'none' is supposed to put Pro/ENGINEER into a streaming mode where saves are completed on the server. However; I found SPR 1404362 which states that this option hasn't worked since Windchill 7.0 and should be removed from a future version of Creo.
