Wintralink 9.1 Deleting objects

Is there any way to delete an object in the commonspace that may be referenced by another object?

"Referentialintegrityviolationsoccurredforthisoperation"

Every once in a while a user will create something and then later will want to completely replace it with something else.

This could easily be done in Ilink3.4

I understand that this is not the best of practices, but this has been a easy way to eliminate some user's mistakes. Mine included.

I did get a couple of responses on this issue.

I am at the end of a project and I will need to delete several files that were created and eventually eliminated from the design. The files were checked into the commonspace during the project. In Intralink 3.4 I can just force a deletion with but only admin privileges.

I guess in Wintralink 9.1 you could move the files to a trash location and hope that they can be deleted easily a later revision.

Short answer… no

I’ve had to go in and delete the Promotion Requests or Change Notices related to an object in order to be able to remove a truly bad file. Not how I want to handle this kind of stuff!

9.0 has the same issue. Generally the item is referenced in aearlier version of an asm or drw. When this occurs you have to purge those files out prior to the deletion of the primary object. In 9.0 the purge function doesn't work very well when query limits are in place so it is easier to move the file to be purged to a folder with nothing else in it, then run the purge, purging all past version of the assembly. Then go back and delete the primary file........... Don't forget to move the original assembly/drawing back to it's original location when done purging.
Total pain in the you know what....Anyone else let me know if they have an easier method in 9.1 maybe I will upgrade!

For those that fight for it, life has flavour..
