Hi,
Having recently switched from Creo 2 to Creo 4 and updated the AFX version (now on 4.0 M050), we have a problem of beam positions.
Step 1. We create a beam. AFX creates datums to create and constraint the beam.
Step 2. We sometimes need the beam to be, for exemple, 1/4" below the initial position of the beam. Some designers change the datums created with the beam (for exemple, the position of a point) to move the beam.
Step 3. When selecting the move option in the AFX menu for a different beam, a screen pops up saying " X number of beams need to be updated". The previously modified beam at step 2 returns to its original position.
Is there a way to disable this automatic update of the beams position?
Thank you,
Joey

Hi @Joey_BMH,
you can either use the move tool of AFX to move beams OR modify the datums that control the position manually. Both does not make sense, as AFX modifies the dimensions of the Csys in the PROFIL_REF_CSYS group and therefore manual changes will be overwritten.
Also note that you can also change the exact dimensions of the position in the move tool.
Hope that helps
