Allow Measure Analysis to select Datum Reference Feature
By all logic, a datum reference feature should be selectable for a measurement analysis, but it cannot.
This was prompted by a user discussion with the following use-case:
Welded edges require edge selection in the weld feature. These same edges can be added to a datum reference feature for a saved collection of edges. To know how much weld material is required, the weld lengths can be used in a measurement feature. The value of the measurement can be used in subsequent parameters to provide weld material requirements.
use case 2:
A large part requires selective painting or coating. Surfaces requiring paint can be collected in a datum reference feature and used in subsequent selection. To calculate the area for which paint or coating is required, an area measurement should be able to select the datum reference feature rather than reselecting (and possibly overlooking) these same surfaces. Datum reference features can include an Intent Chain; a collection of edges, continuous or independent to act on with geometry feature. There are several Intent options in Datum Reference. In the example below, the Datum Reference is Surfaces and the Analysis Feature is an Area Measurement requiring surface selections.
Measurement Analysis includes length and area as options. You can select edges and area individually the same as you do for the Intent Chain or Intent Surface.
However, you cannot use the Datum Reference Intent Chain or Intent Surface as input for a Length or Area Measurement Analysis (?)
The logic of excluding datum reference features from measure analysis selection appears to be an oversight in the specification of the Measure Analysis Feature. Many of the measurement analysis options and datum reference options are compatible.
