Arbitrary part names with STEP-export

Does anyone know if it is possible during a STEP-export to automatically change the original part- and assembly names to something arbitrary like a series of numbers instead?

You can change the file name to anything you like, but you first have to select the step extension and then change the file name. (Manually)

Maybe I was not totally clear in my description - what I am looking for is when someone opens the STEP-file the names in the model tree should be something arbitrary like AB01, AB02, AB03...

From searching the archieves, here is something about a batch import of step files. You may be able to use the same concept for exporting the files. But I think that the answer may be that this is not doable.
