Calling up Number on drawing

Hi everyone,

WC8.0, WF3.0

Is it possible at all to call up the Number on a drawing? We typically
call up the File Name but I want to change that to the Number.

I looked on the forums but I can't find any topics on that.

Thanks,

If you are just looking to report a specific parameter in the drawing
format sheet as the part number, it can be done with any parameter in a
straightforward manner.

Look for &<param name="> where <param name="> is the defined parameter in
the drawing or active part when the drawing is created.

BTW, in a drawing with several parts active. Make sure to active the
proper part before creating / replacing a drawing format on a sheet to
pick the right report parameters to populate the title block.

If you are using a default template to create parts, you can also create
the drawing automatically with the same name/number from the templates.

For example, our parts and drawings do not have the same name as the
drawing (legacy issues), so we create a parameter at the part level
called 'SK', and then in the title block of the drawing we show '&SK' to
report the part number. This also goes for BOM's

I hope this was useful,

Actually, what I'm trying to do is call up the actually Number (which is
a Windchill field I believe) in my drawing.

Here's more background info:

I am working on a new family table for fasteners. In order to make it
simpler to call up fasteners in our assemblies, I want to use a
descriptive term for the File Name. Since that fasteners is going to be
used in BOMs, it still needs to have a Number. I want to be able to call
up that Number on a drawing.

Does that make sense?

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Fred

Hello again,

I'm trying another angle for this issue... Is it possible to add
PTC_WM_NUMBER in my part or assembly parameters?

If so, how would I do that?

Thanks,

Fred
