Hi,
I would make the 3D model for coil winding in rectangular trajectory,. Cross section of wire is cylindrical.
I can try Helical sweep, its like a spring. But i would like to have in rectangular and number of layers more than 5.
Example: have 50x30mm box (outer dim), and make the dia 1mm wire wind around it for 5 layers in width and 10 layers in height
It's been a while, but I think I used a set of datum points that are varied in a cylindrical coordinate system (the math is pretty easy) and then create curve through points with a constant radius for each bend and then use that as a trajectory to sweep to create the solid. The advantage is that additional curves can be added to the start and end of the wrapping curve by creating a composite of all of them rather than just abruptly starting and ending.
