ECAD Artwork in 3-D Model

Is there a way to import ECAD artwork (e.g. PWB copper traces and planes) into a Creo 3-D model? I can import ECAD components into a Creo 3-D model by importing EMN/EMP files (IDF). I can also view Cadence board artwork in Creo View MCAD and ECAD tool. What I have not been able to do is bring the PWB artwork into the Creo 3-D model to check for shorts, etc... in the next assembly. Any help would be appreciated.

Tim, you should be able to through IDX.  You need to be on CREO 3, I know and your ECAD tool needs to be able to support etch in the IDX file.  I haven't done it, but I've seen it demoed many times.

Here's a YouTube video of it in practice: ECAD Copper Import - YouTube

Dumb artwork can be brought in by exporting dxf from the layout software and import as a part instead of a drawing.
