Feels like Monday...or just the same old Pro/E

I've always done this sort of feature the way you suggest. I have,
however, had the feature flip on me. I'm not sure what specifically you
are doing that solves the flipping problem. Can you clarify? This has,
historically, always been a problem, ever since I can remember.



This also reminds me of a problem I had just a few weeks ago with a
pattern of holes around a tube. I created a hole on a datum plane that
went through the center axis of the tube at an angle to a default datum
plane. The hole was extruded thru-all in one direction. When I
patterned the hole I got what is shown below. Half the holes in the
part, half outside the part. (see top picture) When I called tech
support, they suggested I simply make the hole thru-all in both
directions. Know what I ended up with? The correct LOOKING part, with
the same number of holes OUTSIDE the part, as I had inside the part.
(See the bottom picture) HA! I corrected the problem by creating a
plane tangent to the outside of the cylinder, normal to the original
plane. Then I used that plane to create a hole going through the part.
I then only patterned it 180 degrees.



Weird......

We use a lot of 360° patterns and like you have discovered, the work around seems to be to use 2X 180° rather than 1X 360°. My problem in a related issue is how to flatten a quilt 360° i.e. taking a cylinder and un-wrapping it. I can do it easily in two separate quilts.
