How to display expanded metal in a drawing?
I am trying to display expanded metal in a drawing and thought using a hatch pattern might work better than modeling expanded metal due to file size. What have you done in this situation?

What we do is to create a family table with 2 different patterns. The instance with the full patteren is used for the drawing of the the part. The generic uses only a small represenative pattern to give you an idea of what the rest of the part is like.Tthis is what is used in assemblies.
At other places, I have seen a solid part with hole pattern applied as a cosmetic to keep the file size small.
