Intralink releases

Good afternoon.
Is it possible to mix releases of Intralink?
For example, will an Intralink 3.4 client work with an Intralink 3.3 server?
I suspect I know the answer, but if you are able to confirm one way or
another, I would be most grateful.

The release numbers must match.

And if I recall correctly, the maintenance release number (M010, M020, etc) must match as well.

The one exception I know of (and have made use of) is the Fileserver
portion only. 3.4 Fileserver works with 3.3 Dataserver and Client (at
least up to M050). Using 3.4 Fileserver addresses some locking issues
and other annoyances you might find in 3.3 Fileserver. I don't know for
sure if builds after 3.4 M060 are still compatible but PTC might answer
if asked. That's where I learned the details of this pairing.
