Is it possible to turn off Creo's versioning feature?

Is it possible to turn off Creo's versioning feature, so that newly saved parts always overwrite their respective previously saved versions? There are some Google results for this topic but the ones I found are all quite old (and all say "no").

SAVE_FILE_ITERATIONS

I always tell people this option is bad. This is your only way to recover corrupted data. If something happens, you will have no recovery options.

Eventually you'll regret turning this option on...that is my opinion.

It is much better to leave the iterations on and run a purge program daily.
