Leader note annotation text follow screen

Leader note annotation text follow screen

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of guidance on annotations, but my desired outcome may not be possible from the research I've done already.

I am working on an assembly and want to include an annotation for our own reference while designing. I was aiming to have an attached leader note with the text following the screen, rather than being placed on a plane, so it was more legible when working within the assembly.

I have a legacy model from a much older version of Creo/ProE where this behaviour was achieved. Pictures below showing the text of the leader note scaling with the view's zoom level, and rotating to always face the screen. The leader and elbow are fixed in 3D space, but the text is dynamic.

The closest I have achieved in Creo8 is an item attached note, but this can be blocked by the model, whereas the legacy note always displays on top.

I am guessing there have just been updates in the way the annotations work, and there is now no way to replicate this legacy note style, It's not a massive issue for us, but if anyone has any info I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi,

maybe you can create mapkey in older version of Creo which make old flat-to screen annotation -AND- then use this mapkey in Creo 8.0.

Note: I think according to information available on https://support.ptc.com/help/creo/creo_pma/r8.0/usascii/index.html#page/model-based_definition/about_flat_to_screen_annotation_orient.html and https://support.ptc.com/help/creo/creo_pma/r8.0/usascii/index.html#page/model-based_definition/to_define_flat_to_screen_annotation_orient.html pages, old flat-to screen annotation cannot be created using Creo 8.0 user interface.

Hi Martin,

Yes based on the documentation it looks like this isn't possible anymore, and there has been a change to how the annotations can be set up compared to when the legacy example shown was created. I do not have access to an older version of creo unfortunately, so it looks like I'll just use the Plane-defined annotations instead. Thanks for finding the documentation and the mapkey idea.
