Limitations of Elements/Direct Modeling Express

Limitations of Elements/Direct Modeling Express

Using the Free version of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Express v 4.0.

I was wondering what kind of limitations are to be expected (i.e. not to search where the feature is when it has not been made available)

(besides being only on Windows (ok, no Linux was expected, but no Mac??))

For instance is the Parts Library accessible?

Thank you

Hello Yves, have a look at that

http://www.ptc.com/view?im_dbkey=129462f

(Please write info in your Signature) Sysinfo: I use Creo Elements Direct /Drafting, /Modeling and /Modeling Express 8.0 ( formerly CoCreate- SolidDesigner and Drafting or ME10 )

Thanks, that's an interesting + helpful document.

I wonder if "Import 3D geometry, and edit assemblies and parts automatically,

as if the design data is native" means that an access to the Parts Library is available for the Express version, allowing the free download of blocks?

[ If yes would you mind to point to where is that feature in the soft, thanks ]

Hello Yves,

the parts library is a paid module even in the full version.

In Express 4 is only Modeling and Annotation available.

But there are providers on the Internet that offer 3D parts for free.

For example

http://www.tracepartsonline.net

http://b2b.partcommunity.com

You can download the parts in the. Stp or. Lsp format and use them in express 4

Edit:

Have a look on this site:

http://osd.cad.de/modelle.htm

some of the models are in .pk2 format.
