Reporting mass properties is an essential task when modeling assemblies. The mass, center of gravity, and inertia values are critical characteristics of parts, which impact the behavior of assemblies. Mass reporting is a simple task for parts modeled in Creo Parametric, because materials can be assigned and the mass properties are automatically calculated. This task becomes complicated when imported components are involved. In those cases, alternative mass properties must be assigned. But how exactly is Creo Parametric utilizing . Creo Parametric offers tools to serve the needs of manually assigned mass properties, but their impact on a mass properties report can sometimes be confusing. In this post, I hope to explain and discuss some of the Creo behaviors involved with mass properties assignments and reporting.

Update: Apparently the relation "MP_DENSITY = PRO_MP_DENSITY" can also work for the smear mass approach.
